Family-owned trucking company is currently seeking an experienced, full-time, Tanker Dispatcher. Must be comfortable working on the phone to take orders from customers. Computer skills are crucial. This position requires the ability to multi-task in a hectic, challenging environment at times. Communication, customer service and time-management are required to succeed. Familiarity with DOT regulations is a plus, but a willingness to learn is more important.

General Information

• Guide customers, customer service personnel, and drivers through the process of receiving, dispatching, and completing bulk chemical shipments.
• Coordinate and monitor fleet equipment and driver pickup and delivery schedules per company and customer requirements.
• Provide directions for drivers to customer locations.
• Data entry of load information, load status, equipment movement, rates, etc. into dispatch system
• Occasionally negotiate pay rates for transportation of materials hauled.
• Ensure compliance with the Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Communicate directly with customers via telephone, e-mail, and fax.
• Track and report driver service failures and/or disciplinary issues to Human Resources Department.
• Manage dispatch issues after normal business hours ("on-call" rotation).
• Working conditions may include moderate noise levels and mostly working inside in controlled temperatures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must have relevant bulk chemical transpiration experience either through driving or dispatching work history.
• Ability to read and understand detailed customer load information and customer requirements and deadlines.
• Geographic knowledge and ability to read geographical maps.
• Adequate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to navigate and research using the internet.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, and possess strong follow-up skills.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while maintaining an individual workload.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment (i.e. computer, fax machine, copier, printer, etc.).
• Must be goal-oriented and demonstrate positive interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to reach with hands and arms, to maintain a seated position for up to 4 hours, to listen intently, to speak clearly and professionally, and to have sufficient visual ability to meet job requirements.

Education, Experience, and Attitude Requirements

• High school or equivalent.
• At least one year experience in truck dispatch, driving or operations preferred.
