Candidates must be within commuting distance to San Diego, CA and able to work onsite at least 25% of the time, as needed based on need. (1 – 2 days week as needed onsite)
The
Senior Director, Information Technology – Enterprise Analytics & Applied Artificial Intelligence
is responsible for hands-on leadership of a small transformative team focused on both developing strategy for adopting innovative applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the enterprise as well as the execution of results-oriented programs focused on advancing strategic data & analytics capabilities.
Must Have Industry experience within Life Science, Medical Device, BioTech or Pharmaceutical organizations.
This role is responsible for both AI Strategy & Execution, to help build out, this is a Very Hands on position.
Experience/Skills Needed:
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, Advanced degree preferred.
- 15 years of experience in data and analytics,
- 5 years of experience with Next Gen AI-related roles
- 7 years in leadership positions.
- Must Have Industry experience within Life Science, Medical Device, BioTech or Pharmaceutical organizations.
- Hands-on
experience designing and delivering large-scale business-oriented solutions focused on data, analytics, and novel applications of machine learning (e.g. GenAI). - Experience working with senior business leaders to develop roadmaps for impactful application of AI (e.g. operational efficiencies, new business growth).
- Experience building, deploying, and maintaining proprietary LLM applications (i.e. internal Chat GPT tools).
- Experience building, deploying, and maintaining other types of AI-driven intelligent assistance (e.g. RPA, next-best-action platforms)
- Experience with deploying and maintaining advanced data management, analytics, and visualization, and AI platforms/tools for data & analytics teams across the enterprise.
- Experience building and operating solutions that meet both
regulatory
(e.g.
FDA
) and corporate compliance requirements. - Experience partnering and collaborating with R&D, manufacturing, safety, regulatory, commercial and/or enabling functions
within Life Science, Medical Device, BioTech or Pharmaceutical organizations. - Deep expertise in AI and data strategy, data architecture, data engineering, data governance, and advanced analytics.
- Proven experience in collaborating with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and Enterprise Architecture teams to deploy scalable and secure AI solutions.
- Strong understanding of modern data stack and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their data services.
- Innovative, capacity to think through enterprise lens and strategic thinker with sound grasp of new technologies, competitive landscapes, and the regulatory environment.
- Ability to align digital strategy with the organization's overall IT and security goals, ensuring that solutions are both innovative and secure.
- Vendor management experience including vendor due diligence, contracting, and performance management, fostering partnerships and contracts which result in competitive investment for clients and maximizes the efficiency of vendor performance.
- Ability to creatively influence global stakeholders and IT colleagues to achieve objectives and realize business value.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills with ability to develop positive coaching/mentoring relationships with direct reports and matrixed team members.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to understand and absorb complex information and requirements.
Responsibilities:
These may include but are not limited to:
- Lead cross-functional effort to establish comprehensive vision and roadmap for advancing enterprise data architecture, analytics and AI capabilities aligned with strategic corporate objectives.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, legal, and infrastructure teams to refine and/or develop policies and practices that ensure best-in-class data protection, ethical AI use, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and execute results-oriented project portfolio in alignment with enterprise roadmap and related best practice and policies, inclusive of periodic updates to senior management and responsibility for multi-year budget plans.
- Provide day-to-day leadership for high-performing data and AI project teams across multiple disciplines, partnering with business leaders to maximize ROI of each effort.
- Provide quality oversight throughout project lifecycles; accountable for ensuring best practices in data modeling, governance, application of responsible AI, and compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
- Reinforce data-driven decision-making culture through the advancement of data literacy and access policies that support the growth of responsible and secure self-service analytics capabilities across the enterprise.
- Plan, operate and manage enterprise-wide data and metadata technology platforms and infrastructure, including the advancement of enterprise-scale analytics and data lake/warehouse solution along with associated data catalog/data quality program.
- Champion emerging AI technologies and lead forums focused on engaging colleagues to jointly transform impactful innovation opportunities into plans of action across the enterprise.
