On Call Primary Residential Counselor positions available
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Primary Residential Counselor – provides clinical treatment to residents under the supervision of the Therapy Director and in accordance with individualized treatment plans and functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team of staff. This individual participates in various therapeutic groups, individual counseling, and activities when assigned. This position is actively involved in the establishment of the therapeutic milieu on a daily basis and makes the decisions affecting the treatment in correlation with the treatment team and Therapy Director.
SUPERVISED BY: Therapy Director
DEGREE OF SUPERVISION:
The Primary Residential Counselor- meets on a regular basis with the Therapy Director.
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in behavioral science or related field. Able to obtain an Agency Affiliated Counselor credential with the State of Washington.
Preferred: Course work in child development, adolescent adjustment, mental illness, group functions, or related areas. Experience working with children/adolescents in a residential setting.
Requires a valid drivers license.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Abides by all Tamarack Center Policies and Procedures. The use of manual restraint and seclusion may be necessary. Must follow all Washington State COVID vaccine requirements.
SCHEDULE:
Specific schedule to be determined by the Therapy Director. Position requires some weekend shifts.

About Tamarack Center: Tamarack center is a small (16 bed) residential treatment center for teenagers struggling with a wide variety of psychiatric illnesses, by using a treatment philosophy of connection, support, and structure. Tamarack Center has successfully helped countless teens and families for close to 40 years.
Working at Tamarack Center: Tamarack strives to support staff through an environment that fosters connection and collaboration with all of the staff. Tamarack also knows that the best healing comes when staff are connected to the teens and families we serves. For this reason all staff are seen as being in a "Therapeutic" role, even if your role is not clinical. This means that staff will often engage with our residents in rec activities, sit and talk while on the milieu, or engage in other creative ways. This approach creates a more relaxed and connected environment for the staff, which has led to many staff remaining at Tamarack for 10, 20, and even 30 + years.
