Production Manager Machining Operations

Position Summary
The Production Manager oversees daily machining operations to ensure parts are produced safely, efficiently, and to precise quality standards. This role manages CNC machining, assembly, and support teams while driving process improvement, optimizing equipment utilization, and maintaining on-time delivery to customers.
Key Responsibilities
· Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily machining operations to meet customer delivery dates and quality requirements.
· Supervise CNC machinists, setup technicians, and production support staff; ensure proper training, performance management, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
· Monitor job progress, machine utilization, and labor efficiency; adjust schedules and priorities as needed.
· Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Planning to resolve production issues and improve manufacturability.
· Drive continuous improvement using lean manufacturing, 5S, and process optimization techniques.
· Ensure preventive maintenance and equipment care programs are followed to minimize downtime.
· Track and report key production metrics such as throughput, scrap, rework, and on-time delivery.
· Maintain compliance with AS9100/ISO 9001 standards and company policies.
· Support the introduction of new parts, tooling, and processes, ensuring smooth transition into production.
· Participate in budgeting, capacity planning, and workforce development initiatives.
· Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Management, or equivalent experience preferred.
· 5+ years of production supervision or management experience in a CNC machining or precision manufacturing environment.
· Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, fixturing, and setups (mills, lathes, multi-axis preferred).
· Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools.
· Familiarity with GD&T, blueprint reading, and shop documentation.
· Experience implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
· Proven leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate teams.
· Working knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
· Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make sound operational decisions.
Physical Requirements
· Regular exposure to manufacturing environments with machinery, noise, and coolant.
· Ability to stand, walk, or move between production areas throughout the shift.
· Occasionally lift or move materials up to 25 lbs.

Schedule
- Monday to Friday (Day Shift)
