Part Time Coding Instructor (K–12, Neurodiverse Learners – ASD/ADHD)

Location: Irvine, CA

Job Type: Part-time (After-School Hours and Weekends)

Pay: $25-$30 per hour

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to helping neurodiverse students, especially those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), explore their creativity through coding, robotics, and technology. Our mission is to make computer science fun, accessible, and confidence-building for every learner.

Position Summary

We're seeking a patient, enthusiastic After-School Coding Instructor to teach K–12 students the fundamentals of coding in a supportive, engaging, and structured environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, has experience teaching or tutoring, and understands how to adapt lessons for students with different learning styles and attention needs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach hands-on 1 on 1 or small group coding lessons using platforms such as Scratch, Microsoft Makecode, LEGO Education Spike, Micro:bit or Python.
  • Adapt instruction to meet individual learning and sensory needs of students with ASD and ADHD.
  • Create a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
  • Encourage creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving through coding projects.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and program staff.
  • Track student engagement and progress; provide positive reinforcement and feedback.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and organized learning environment.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience teaching or mentoring K–12 students (in a school, camp, or after-school setting).
  • Familiarity with at least one beginner-friendly coding tool (e.g., Scratch, MakeCode, or Python).
  • Understanding of or experience supporting students with ASD and/or ADHD.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and a genuine interest in helping children learn.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to work weekday afternoons or on weekends.

Preferred:

  • Degree or coursework in Education, Computer Science, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Experience developing inclusive or differentiated lesson plans.
  • Background in special education or behavioral support.
