Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical assisting, patient care, and dental procedures, with a focus on delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced environment. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during various procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and safety. Your expertise will contribute to providing comprehensive dental care that enhances patient comfort and satisfaction.

Duties

  • Assist dentists during a wide range of dental procedures, including general dentistry.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray imaging), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Manage electronic medical records using EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow and reduce procedure time.
  • Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation for patients requiring medical history updates or special care.
  • Maintain infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and adhering to OSHA standards to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and treatment plans using clear dental terminology.
  • Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling administrative tasks as needed.
  • Operate advanced imaging equipment such as 3D scanners for comprehensive diagnostics and treatment planning.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations concerning patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Assist with medical coding and documentation for insurance claims or referrals when necessary.

Skills

  • Proficiency in EMR systems including Dentrix, Eaglesoft,Open Dental or Epic for efficient record management.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
  • Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry as well as specialized fields like prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
  • Ability to operate X-ray machines safely while adhering to radiation safety standards.
  • Familiarity with medical imaging technology such as 3D scanners for diagnostic purposes.
  • Excellent understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security.
  • Competence in managing medical documentation, records management, and medical coding processes.
  • Skilled in providing compassionate pediatric dentistry support tailored to young patients' needs.
  • Knowledge of dental assisting best practices including vital signs measurement and infection prevention strategies.
