Development Intern

Temporary position 

This is a 35-hour/week temporary position running from May 18 to August 21, 2026. The internship offers a total stipend of $7,350, paid bi-weekly over the 14-week period. Please note that taxes are not withheld, and the position does not include benefits, such as vacation or holiday leave.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with planning and execution of SOAR NWA fundraising event
  2. Design, schedule and track social media posts
  3. Respond to social media posts and messages
  4. Assist with event permit
  5. Design signage, banners, passes, etc.
  6. Design ads
  7. Assist Volunteer Chair with recruitment and signup schedule
  8. Create volunteer video
  9. Update event website
  10. Help solicit sponsorship support
  11. Create TikTok highlighting this year's event
  12. Donor Database Management to include entering donor gifts and printing receipts on a weekly basis
  13. Assist with Open Avenues social media, including creating and replying to posts
  14. Help research grant opportunities and draft submissions
  15. Assist with other development and fundraising support

Eligibility:

Candidates must be a currently enrolled college student who will be returning as a full-time (12+ credit hours) sophomore, junior or senior in the fall of 2026, and legally eligible to work in the United States. Pursuing a degree in nonprofit management, communications, public relations, journalism, design or event planning preferred.

Background check/Drug screening:

This position requires a criminal background check, adult maltreatment check, child abuse and neglect check, as well as drug testing.

Qualifications:

  1. Ability to take initiative, show good judgement, and manage projects from beginning to end
  2. Excellent design, writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  3. Detail oriented with the ability to anticipate next steps or needs
  4. Understanding of and ability to utilize social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) and measurement tools
  5. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  6. Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  7. Ability to design graphics for social media posts and event posters/flyers
  8. Strong interpersonal relationship skills
  9. Self-confidence
  10. Creative problem solving
