Role Overview
We're hiring a Switchgear Sales Representative who can own the sales cycle from initial inquiry through final proposal. This role requires a mix of technical understanding, relationship-building, attention to detail, and persistence.
You'll interface with customer estimating teams, review construction drawings, leverage our internal configuration tools, and work with vendors to assemble accurate and competitive switchgear proposals.
This is not transactional "order-taking." It's a professional role that requires thinking through complex problems, reading plans, coordinating with engineers, and advocating for the customer while protecting the integrity of the package.
What You'll Do
Relationship & Account Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with electrical contractors, estimators, and purchasing managers
- Serve as the primary point of contact on all active quotes and opportunities
- Provide timely, professional communication via email, phone, and in person
Technical & Proposal Development
- Review construction drawings, one-lines, and specifications to assemble switchgear packages
- Clarify discrepancies with engineers, customers, and internal team members
- Use internal configuration tools to generate accurate part selections
- Work with vendors to secure competitive pricing
Sales Process Ownership
- Manage and update all opportunities within our CRM
- Track, report, and analyze quoting outcomes and win/loss trends
- Follow up consistently with customers to close open proposals
- Perform jobsite walkthroughs when needed to verify conditions or gather details
Results We Expect
- Accurate, clear, and competitive switchgear quotes delivered on time
- All opportunities kept up-to-date and properly documented in CRM
- Strong follow-through, timely communication, and professional presentation
- Steady improvement of quoting accuracy and close rate over time
- Positive relationships with customers that lead to repeat business
What We're Looking For
Required
- Professional communication skills (email, phone, meetings)
- Organization, time management, and strong attention to detail
- Ability to learn technical products and configuration tools
Preferred
- Proven experience in sales (1+ years)
- Ability to read construction documents (plans, specs, one-lines)
- Experience in electrical distribution, construction, or switchgear
- Familiarity with UL 891 switchboards or electrical equipment
- Experience quoting technical or engineered-to-order products
We offer daily checkins and training with the head of sales and/or an owner until you can sufficiently read, understand and quote switchgear projects.

Location Requirements
This is an in-person role at our Garden City, NY office.
Candidates must be able to commute reliably or relocate before starting.

Pay: $80, $90,000.00 per year
