POSITION TITLE: Mobile Crisis Specialist

REPORTS TO: Mobile Crisis Coordinator

JOB TYPE: Full-Time

The Part-time Mobile Crisis Specialist is responsible for providing assessment, intake and intervention services 24/7 for crisis service. The position is designed to provide crisis mental health assessments, intakes, interventions and resolutions in the community.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Works closely with community partners to problem solve complex situations and develop plans for immediate and appropriate interventions in the community.
  • Provide clinical services in the crisis clinic when mobile response needs are low.
  • Respond quickly to conduct rapid mental status assessments, suicide risk assessments, hospital screens, and intakes on-site and in the community, including requests from local police departments that do not have a co-responder as needed or if the co-responder is not available, 988 crisis lines, and referrals from other community partners.
  • Provides crisis interventions on-scene in the community with individuals, families, and/or others present as needed, with an emphasis on assessing needs, securing appropriate level-of-care services, and minimizing trauma.
  • Coordinate and facilitate referrals to appropriate services in the community.
  • Conduct hospital admission screens and oversee the admission process as needed.
  • Strive to develop intervention and or diversion plans that prevent or reduce admissions to jails and hospitals, when other interventions can meet the needs.
  • Prepare to quickly respond to calls, at all times, during a shift.
  • Proactively outreach local hospitals, jails, police departments in order to build relationships and establish a sound protocol for reaching the Mobile Crisis Responder.
  • Follow all safety protocols, and utilize a second staff member and/or CIT officer whenever safety is unknown or questionable.
  • Understand and follow the guidelines and policies of the TLOC work within the community partner guidelines/policies.
  • Provide 24/7 Crisis Stabilization either via telephone or in person through mobile response within 1 hour of deployment.
  • MCS will follow-up with those referred to TLOC's Crisis Stabilization or Intake Services by reviewing electronic health record. MCS will attempt contact by phone or in person until services are bridged.
  • MCR will document all contacts and interventions in the EHR in a timely and accurate manner and will be responsible for monthly reports involving the MCS.
  • Contributes positively to the development of new programming and demonstrates solution-focused leadership abilities.
  • Works closely with other service providers and case management teams to provide clinical assessments and interventions for clients who are involved in services, including working closely with the Crisis Case Manager for outreach attempts for clients in crisis.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

· Must meet criteria for qualification as a QMHP under IL. Administrative Code Rule 132. LPHA preferred.

· Demonstrated knowledge of JACHO accreditation standards.

· Demonstrated knowledge of IL Administrative Rules 132, 140, and 2060.

· High degree of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people, including clients, staff, and others.

· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other departments within TLOC.

· Ability to make appropriate, informed decisions.

· Ability to multi-task, complete a high volume of tasks and projects with little or no guidance.

· Well-developed organizational and time management skills.

· Effective verbal and written communication skills.

· Professional discretion and adherence to confidentiality.

· Must be culturally competent, empathetic, and able to interact and develop rapport with a diversified population.
