POSITION SUMMARY

The Campus Safety Specialist will assist in suppo5ting policies, procedures, and processes relating to fire and life safety activities in accordance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, International Fire Code (IFC) standards, voluntary and regulatory agency guidelines, and other fire and life safety organizational best practices. The Campus Safety Specialist will also assist in the overall emergency preparedness efforts of the Authority.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for supporting fire and life safety programs throughout the Authority, and to ensure compliance with applicable local, state and federal laws, regulations and standards concerning fire and life safety.
• Serve as the subject matter expert on fire and life safety for the Authority.
• Support fire and life safety programs, procedures, and processes to ensure the safety of the Authority employees, clients, and visitors in accordance with applicable state and local fire and life safety rules, regulations and codes.
• Coordinate and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions to address fire and life safety deficiencies.
• Provide technical guidance to Authority departments and personnel with specific fire plans and measures.
• Review event plans and conduct pre and live show safety inspections.
• Prepare reports that track trends, violations, as well as areas of improvement.
• Assist, as directed, in the overall emergency preparedness program at the Authority.
• Such other duties, functions, and responsibilities as required by the Emergency Preparedness Director or Campus Safety Officer.
• Other duties may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

• Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook systems.
• Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while working productively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Risk Management or related field. Experience may substitute the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Must have two years (2) experience in a facility safety, emergency management, or fire background.
• Training in and experience with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Code, International Fire Code (IFC) regulations, and industry best practices.
• Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) for this position. 
• Master's degree in Public Administration, Risk Management, Emergency Management or related field preferred.
• Certification: State of Georgia/NPQ Fire Inspector Level I preferred.
• Experience working for a multi-purpose facility servicing major exhibitions, entertainment or meeting oriented events preferred.
