Position Summary

The Director of Operations plays a critical leadership role in the day-to-day management of our production department, ensuring all systems, processes, and personnel are aligned with Earth Ranch's quality, safety, and operational goals.

This role is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the daily production schedule
  • Maintaining and advancing our food safety and quality management systems
  • Training and developing production staff
  • Enforcing compliance with GMPs, FDA guidelines, and customer requirements

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and has a deep understanding of quality systems in food production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, monitor, and update the SQF quality system
  • Develop and implement production and quality processes aligned with FDA and GMP standards
  • Oversee and train production personnel in quality and safety protocols
  • Ensure production meets established quality and efficiency standards
  • Manage ERP documentation including material receiving, production recording, and COA verification
  • Monitor and maintain testing records (ATP, environmental, chemical strength, calibration, sanitation, etc.)
  • Schedule production and personnel based on customer needs and staffing levels
  • Support inventory management through physical counts and ERP updates
  • Resolve operational and interpersonal issues professionally and in line with company policies
  • Act as a liaison between sales, operations, and quality to ensure order accuracy and timely fulfillment

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or minimum of 5 years of relevant operations/quality management experience
  • Certified SQF Practitioner
  • Certified in HACCP and Advanced HACCP systems
  • Experience with 3rd-party food safety and quality systems
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Strong computer skills (ERP systems experience preferred)
  • Ability to develop and implement processes and documentation in compliance with industry regulations
  • Proven ability to lead, train, and develop a team

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Standard work hours: Monday–Friday
  • Must be available for on-call support and emergency plant visits as needed

  • Approving equipment repairs and part purchases
  • Hiring, training, and scheduling production staff
  • Disciplinary action and performance management
  • Updating procedures and changing production schedules based on business needs
