Overview and Purpose of Position
Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) is seeking a dedicated and culturally responsive Case Manager to join our Refugee Services team. This position works in close coordination with other JVS staff and community partners to deliver services to refugees and eligible clients under the Refugee Support Services (RSS) and Refugee Health Promotion (RHP) grants. The primary goal is to support clients in achieving self-sufficiency and successful integration into their new communities.
Client Services
- Provide culturally appropriate case management services to refugee adults and families, including needs assessments, service planning, referrals, and follow-up.
- Support clients in accessing housing, health care, education, employment, transportation, and other essential services.
- Navigating the self sufficiency process and accompanying the clients in the community where needed.
- Promote accessibility in clients' homes and assist with transportation where required.
- Help the clients maintain grant and benefit compliance.
Service Coordination
- Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to ensure seamless, holistic service delivery.
- Maintain accurate, timely case documentation and reporting in accordance with grant and agency requirements.
- Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences, training, and team meetings.
- Remain adaptable and responsive to ongoing changes in client populations, program policies, and procedures.
- Uphold JVS values of dignity, inclusion, and empowerment in all client and community interactions.
- Perform other duties as may be required by supervisor
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills Needed
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
- Experience working with refugees or other immigrant populations strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with public benefits systems, refugee resettlement, and trauma-informed care is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in English is required; additional languages (e.g., Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Swahili, Ukrainian) highly desirable.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation is required.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- This position may involve travel to client homes or partner sites.
- Much of the work is typically performed in an interior temperature-controlled office work environment. Position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Some work may be performed at community sites such as other agency offices, schools, libraries, and other public meeting places. Employees may experience exposure to temperature extremes when in training situations, in a car, and while traveling to contacts outside of the agency facility.
- Position requires frequent bending, squatting, sitting, standing, pulling, pushing, lifting, and moving items that may weigh up to 50 lbs.
