The Service Manager- Peterbilt is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the service department for the trucking side of the business, including personnel management, customer service, and operational efficiency. The Service Manager ensures that trucks are serviced, repaired, and maintained according to industry standards and company protocols.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise the tucking side of our service department technicians and coordinator's daily responsibilities to ensure quality repairs and detailed, accurate documentation providing the highest

level of customer support.

  • Foster a collaborative work environment that demonstrates a strong sense of urgency to support customers and employees.
  • Manage staffing levels and assigned work hours, in collaboration with the equipment service manager, to meet customer needs and maximize profitability.
  • Access daily work operations to enhance the department's efficiency and productivity.
  • Supervise and participate in the process of opening, quoting, and invoicing work orders. Including obtaining customer signatures, negotiating estimates, and collecting payment.
  • Verify that all proper documentation is submitted and process through the correct channel for the vendor.
  • Follow payments through the OEM system and invoice per guidelines.
  • Actively participate with the OEM warranty team to increase warranty knowledge base and communicate to the service team to drive warranty recovery.
  • Manage warranty repairs for Peterbilt and other vendors as delegated.
  • Monitor the quality of work completed by the service department to ensure high customer satisfaction and minimize comebacks.
  • Implement measures to continuously improve service quality and reliability.
  • Address any issues or deviations from standards promptly and decisively.
  • Monitor safety and environmental compliance and collaborate with the equipment service manager to rectify issues.
  • Assure service department training certifications are kept current and meet product requirements.
  • Recommend future company investments on service department capital expenditures.
  • Ensure that all service activities comply with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.

  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols among service staff.

  • Stay updated on industry developments and regulatory changes affecting truck servicing operations.
  • Assist in the budgeting process.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of mechanics, diagnostics, and repair techniques.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employees must be able to lift at least 40 pounds on a regular basis and be able to stand or sit for long periods of time. Be able to be in an environment with loud noises.
