Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service while managing front desk operations in a busy medical office environment. This role requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in various electronic medical record (EMR) systems, and a solid understanding of medical terminology and coding.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and courtesy, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Manage patient scheduling, including appointments, cancellations, and rescheduling as necessary.
  • Handle medical collections and insurance verification to ensure accurate billing processes.
  • Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Utilize EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar for patient data management.
  • Review care plans and assist in the preparation of medical documentation as needed.
  • Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing multi-line phone systems effectively.
  • Assist with medical billing and coding tasks including ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and insurance claims processing.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care and service delivery.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk area to promote an efficient work environment.

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, EHR systems, medical billing/coding practices, and health information management is essential.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are required.
  • Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills are necessary for effective communication with patients and staff.
