Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional administrative support in a medical office environment. This role requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in various electronic health record (EHR) systems, and the ability to deliver outstanding patient service. The Medical Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations at the front desk while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression of the clinic.
- Manage patient scheduling, including appointments, follow-ups, and cancellations.
- Handle incoming calls on multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
- Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details and medical history.
- Process medical collections and perform insurance verification for services rendered.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Utilize EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and others for data entry and management.
- Assist with medical billing processes, including CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding, and documentation review.
- Support care plans by coordinating with healthcare providers and ensuring all necessary information is available.
- Perform clerical tasks such as filing, typing, and managing correspondence efficiently.
- Provide bilingual support to enhance communication with diverse patient populations (if applicable).
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role is preferred.
- Proficiency in EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), and Medicare processes.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on patient satisfaction and effective communication.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in clinic or hospital settings is preferred; dental office experience is also valued if applicable.
