The Lead Bartender is to oversee operations of our bars and report directly to the Beverage Manager. The Lead Bartender will be responsible for leading a team of bartenders, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining high standards of quality and consistency, and contributing to the overall success and development of Merion Cricket Club.

Reports to: Food & Beverage Director & Food & Beverage Managers

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations:

  • Stocks bar and completes other pre-opening requirements.
  • Prepares and serves alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes.
  • Complies with basic safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge of club's POS system
  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of department and daily club operations, including events and operating
  • hours.
  • Ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  • Ability to work large or small events with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
  • Cleans bar and completes other pre-closing requirements.
  • Helps assure that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during high pressure situations

Job Tasks/Duties:

  • Beverage Preparation and Presentation: Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, beers, wines, and specialty drinks, adhering to established recipes and standards. Ensure that all drinks are prepared with precision, attention to detail, and presentation, meeting the highest standards of quality and consistency.
  • Leadership: You will provide leadership and guidance to the bar staff, including training, coaching and assisting in developing our younger staff.
  • Inventory Management: Responsible for monitoring and maintaining appropriate levels of inventory, including liquor, mixers, garnishes, and bar supplies. This includes assisting in conducting regular inventory counts and maintaining Vault and Keg room tidiness.
  • Customer Service**: Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service, handling customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with management to foster a positive and cohesive work environment by promoting teamwork, communication, and collaboration among bar staff and other team members.
  • Training and Development: Conduct regular training sessions for bar staff on new recipes, techniques, and industry trends to enhance their skills and knowledge. Keep abreast of industry trends, innovations, and best practices, sharing knowledge and insights with the team to improve skills and performance.
  • Financial Management: Assist in monitoring bar profitability by controlling costs, minimizing waste, and maximizing sales through effective upselling and promotion strategies.
  • Maintaining Standards: Uphold the bar's cleanliness, organization, and overall aesthetic appeal, ensuring that it reflects the venue's brand and image.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a lead bartender or senior bartender in a high-volume bar or restaurant environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, and beer, as well as beverage trends and industry developments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Proficiency in inventory management, ordering, and cost control.
  • Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and health regulations related to the food and beverage industry.
  • Certification in bartending or mixology is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time
