A dynamic opportunity is available for a Business Development Manager (BDM) with a strong background in architectural products and building materials. This role is focused on expanding market reach by cultivating partnerships with architects, designers, developers, and construction professionals. This role will require up to 75% overnight travel.
Ideal candidates will bring experience in high-end design projects and a consultative sales approach.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Engaging Design Professionals
- Establish and grow connections with architecture and design firms to promote custom metal product offerings.
- Conduct educational presentations, design consultations, and product demonstrations to illustrate value within project workflows.
- Support design teams by integrating product specifications during early conceptual and planning phases.
Partnering with Construction Stakeholders
- Navigate prequalification processes with builders and developers to position offerings for upcoming projects.
- Collaborate with estimating and pre-construction teams to incorporate solutions into formal bids and proposals.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and trades to ensure installation aligns with design intent and technical requirements.
Driving Sales and Market Growth
- Research and pursue high-impact project leads using CRM tools and industry networking.
- Craft tailored proposals and pricing strategies for long-cycle sales opportunities involving engineering and fabrication.
- Represent the company at professional events and industry forums to increase brand exposure and build strategic relationships.
Strategic Insight and Market Expansion
- Track trends, competitor moves, and client insights to continuously improve outreach and positioning.
- Design and implement territory development plans to introduce products into untapped or underserved markets.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of five years' experience in sales of architectural systems, decorative metalwork, or related building products.
- Comfortable with heavy travel
- Skilled in driving specifications and working closely with design professionals from concept through execution.
- Comfortable managing complex, multi-phase sales processes tied to commercial construction.
- Proficient in reading technical drawings and architectural documentation (CAD, blueprints, specs).
- Familiar with CRM platforms like Salesforce for pipeline and relationship management.
- A degree in Architecture, Construction, Industrial Design, Business, or a relevant discipline is preferred.
