Position Overview:
 
The Senior Project Manager/Team Lead plays a key role in driving the successful delivery of civil/municipal projects and leading high-performing project teams. This position combines project management expertise with technical leadership and staff mentorship.
 
As a trusted technical advisor to clients and a leader within the firm, the Senior Project Manager/Team Lead is responsible for guiding civil/municipal projects from initial pursuit through design and completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This individual serves as the primary technical contact for clients, manages project financial performance, and leads project teams.
 
In addition to managing projects, the Senior Project Manager/Team Lead promotes a culture of collaboration and innovation and actively partners with other leaders in the firm to strengthen the company's presence in the marketplace.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Project Delivery & Technical Leadership
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of civil/municipal projects from proposal through closeout, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule objectives are met.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, schedules, work plans, and quality control processes.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and align individual skills with project needs.
  • Provide technical guidance, review deliverables, and ensure compliance with firm standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identify risks and develop solutions to maintain project success.
Client Relationship Management
  • Serve as the client technical contact, building strong relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and delivery excellence.
  • Meet with clients to provide project updates on technical, financial, and scheduling issues.
  • Support contract development and negotiation, ensuring alignment with firm policies.
Financial & Risk Management
  • Monitor project financial performance, including revenue forecasts, budgets, billing, and profitability.
  • Review and approve project invoices; collaborate with accounting to resolve billing or collections issues as needed.
  • Advise leadership on significant project risks, cash requirements, and resource needs.
People Management & Leadership
  • Supervise and manage direct reports, including assigning projects, monitoring workload, and ensuring accountability for performance.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide clear, constructive feedback.
  • Support career growth by creating development plans and identifying training opportunities.
  • Address personnel issues in a timely and professional manner, escalating when necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering or related field.
  • Registered as a licensed professional or certified in a specialty discipline (preferred but not required).
  • 12+ years in engineering/project delivery.
  • 5+ years in supervisory or leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and team-building skills.
