Job Title: Director, Retail Operations

Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000

Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Location: Colorado

Position Objective

The Director of Operations Retail will hold a central role in the supervision and management of up to 3 Regional Managers and 25 retail stores within our organization. Beyond store management, this position will be a proactive contributor to the development and execution of strategic initiatives for our entire Colorado retail division. This includes spearheading efforts to drive sales growth, elevate customer satisfaction, and uphold profitability standards across all stores.

Essential Functions

Store Operations Management (40%)

  • Develop and execute strategies to achieve financial and operational goals for each retail location.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to Regional Managers and Store Directors, ensuring they meet and exceed their store-specific targets.

  • Monitor store performance, address operational challenges, and optimize processes to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.

  • Oversee inventory management, pricing strategies, and product selection to meet sales objectives.

  • Implement and enforce standard operating procedures to maintain consistent store operations across the region.

Team Leadership and Development (30%)

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate Store Directors and their teams to create a culture of excellence and customer service.

  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to retail staff, focusing on product knowledge, sales techniques, and compliance with regulations.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and set individual and team performance standards.

  • Collaborate with People to ensure effective hiring and staffing for all stores.

Strategic Planning and Growth (30%)

  • Analyze market trends, customer insights, and store-specific KPIs to identify growth opportunities.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan product allocation, merchandising, and promotional strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations across all retail locations.

  • Monitor and manage the budget, expenses, and financial performance of the retail department.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or related field preferred.

  • Proven retail management experience, preferably in cannabis.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

  • Knowledge of cannabis industry compliance and regulations.

  • 5 years of retail experience, including:

o Managing 2 or more stores or departments

o P&L responsibility

o Inventory management

o Operations

o Customer service

  • 5 years of management experience, including:

o Leading teams of 6 or more employees

o Strong emphasis on leadership and communication skills

Working Conditions (Schedule, Environment, Travel)

  • Schedule may vary depending on the needs of the business, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Travel required within the region as needed to support store operations.

  • Reliable transportation is required for travel between locations.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) badge in the start of Colorado.
