The Position    

The Manager, Executive Communications & Content will support a wide range of high-level engagements, from global speaking events to internal board meetings, VIP outreach, and convenings with mayors and program partners. The Manager will craft speeches, presentations, correspondence, and briefing materials that elevate the executive voice, sharpen strategy, and reflect the mission, tone, and impact of Bloomberg Philanthropies' Government Innovation portfolio. 

The Manager will also strengthen how the Government Innovation team communicates up to Bloomberg Philanthropies leadership and out to key partners. This includes ensuring senior leaders receive timely, high-quality briefings and program updates, while also developing clear, coordinated messaging across grantees, funders, and collaborators. 

The role is based full-time in New York City.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Executive Communications  
    • Write speeches, talking points, presentations, and thought leadership content for the senior executive. 
    • Prepare briefing materials and visual presentations for key speaking engagements, convenings, and national forums. Craft newsletters and bespoke correspondence to various partners including city hall officials, philanthropic leaders, and the growing state capacity and government innovation ecosystem. 
    • Ensure all executive communications reflect the organization's mission, tone, and public positioning, working closely when needed with External Communications. 

  • Content 
    • Develop accurate and compelling updates for internal leadership on division challenges, opportunities, and impacts.  
    • Work closely with broader content team on board and all-staff briefings, materials, and speaker preparation.  
    • Design and execute the Government Innovation team's internal communications strategy that promotes alignment and engagement across the team. 
    • Work closely with the Chief of Staff on communications and messaging supporting change management initiatives. 
    • Maintain a strong editorial calendar and manage workflows for internal and executive communications projects. 
    • Develop content on Government Innovation team programs for internal platforms as needed. 
    • Maintain an archive of finalized materials for shared reference. 

 Key Qualifications and Experience

  • 10+ years of communications experience, with a demonstrated focus on executive communications, internal communications, and/or speechwriting. 
  • Prior experience working in or closely with city government or another fast-paced environment. 
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt voice and tone across formats and audiences. 
  • Strong EQ, discretion, and an ability to make connections.  
  • The ability to communicate confidently on behalf of senior leadership. 
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively while also meeting goals and timelines.  

We'd love to see:  

  • Experience preparing public officials or executives for high-profile speaking engagements. 
  • Familiarity with change management communications and internal culture-building strategies. 
  • Ability to navigate matrixed organizations and work collaboratively across teams.

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
