Summary of Job: The peer support specialist provides community-based support and recovery education to individuals receiving mental health services. The peer support specialist also assists in implementing/creating a recovery environment and acts as an advocate for the needs and rights of every individual.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Engage individuals in a mental health recovery partnership to support the identification of personal hopes and dreams
• Teach mental health recovery, community engagement, and life skills using recovery tools
• Model hope, personal responsibility, and self-advocacy to demonstrate how to meet recovery goals
• Assist in the development of natural supports
• Cultivate connectedness in the person's life (self, others, the environment, and meaning and purpose)
• Coordinate with the individual's clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources to support goal attainment
• Complete documentation as required by state and managed care organization guidelines

Job Requirements:

The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required to provide peer support services.

• Meet the qualifications to attend Peer Support Training and obtain Certification as a Peer Support Specialist:
• Be a self-identified individual with a mental health diagnosis and who has reached a point in their recovery pathway where they can positively support others in similar situations
• Be eighteen (18) years of age or older
• High school diploma/GED
• Basic computer skills and effective communication skills
• Driver's license and reliable personal vehicle
• Understand and adhere to Recovery InSight, Inc's compliance standards as they appear in the PA Certification Board's Code of Ethical Conduct
• A commitment to ongoing personal development and professional growth.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $ $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
