Software Development Manager, Ads Exchange Events Team

Amazon Advertising is dedicated to driving measurable outcomes for brand advertisers, agencies, authors, and entrepreneurs. The Amazon Ad Exchange (AAX) plays a very important role in the world of our large-scale advertising system that processes billions of ad opportunities each day. The Event Processing team is responsible for ensuring that the Impression, Pixel, and Click events from AAX are processed reliably and efficiently.

We are looking for a talented Engineering leader to lead our AAX Events engineering team. As the leader of the Events team, you would manage the development of critical big-data technologies, infrastructure, products and services that drive the complex workflow involved in our advertising system. In this role, you will lead a team of talented engineers and partner closely with cross functional business and technology leaders. You will draw from your broad and deep expertise in technology/product development, data-management, and software engineering aspects and provide leadership for defining customer/partner needs, product proposals and software solution/service delivery. You will work closely with leaders in the Amazon Ads organization as well as the broader organization, to define and rapidly execute on cross-functional initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Driving engineering - product and engineering goal definitions, business requirements for product releases, engineering design, implementation and delivery.
• Simplifying and solving for complex, inter-dependent infrastructure, technology and business needs.
• Deep interactions with partners, stakeholders and internal customers across Amazon Advertising engineering and business organizations
• Hiring and mentoring engineers and architects, and managing the team to peak performance.
• Product operations – Monitor customer feedback, response, and metrics. Develop plans to support growth and to enable the business to scale efficiently

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
