NOTE: This is an in-house position in Nashville TN. We are open to relocating the right person.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Direct Response Copywriter in the Nashville Metropolitan Area. The role involves creating high-impact direct response copy for various channels. Day-to-day tasks include crafting compelling press releases, writing and editing marketing copy, conducting thorough research, and proofreading. The copywriter will also be responsible for maintaining consistent messaging and tone across all communication materials.

Purpose of Position

Outstanding, Grade A, Direct Response Copy, especially long form, and especially Financial/Investment related copy

  • To be the lead producer of a seasoned team of writers, art designers, editors, and creative support personnel who will consistently produce high quantity and quality Direct Response copy on-time and on-budget.
  • The copy produced will be both long form and short form. Everything from digital ads and VSL scripts to 20 page Magalogs and Newsalogs.
  • To establish and maintain best practices in developing and achieving exceptional work product through effective communication, follow-up, and timely production of deliverables as promised, thereby ensuring client satisfaction above industry expectations and naturally promoting repeat business as a result.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with the Creative Director, Account Executives, and other Creative Department personnel to accurately determine client needs and expectations and develop impacting copy on time.

  2. This position is expected to be the work horse of the entire agency for copy.

  3. Maintain consistent communication with internal departments and providing ongoing status to our Account Executive and clients as needed.

  4. Work closely with senior management and staff in Sales, Production, Finance, and Operations to produce winning campaigns that meet or exceed client expectations and meet the profit and client retention goals of our company.

  5. Maintain regular and frequent direct communication with subordinates to clearly articulate project goals and priorities, build trust and confidence, and monitor the quality of work being produced on a regular basis.

  6. Stay informed of market developments in creative areas through reading, industry involvement, and research to determine competitive factors our company must address to stay viable and profitable.

  7. Maintain open and frequent communication with subordinate personnel to assist them with their skills development and provide them with consistent feedback on their successes and areas where they need additional development or improvement.

  8. Maintain a high level of organization and follow-through in the oversight of Sales and Business Development objectives, and the execution of your job duties and responsibilities.

  5. Hands-on oversight of jobs in-process to ensure they are completed on-time and on-budget.

  6. Dependable and reliable in terms of punctuality, attendance, and focused follow-through with clients, vendors and internal personnel.

  7. Demonstrate sound time management in the execution of all job duties and responsibilities.

  8. Maintain consistent communication with Sales Department and clients regarding job progress on a proactive basis.

  9. Communicate significant work flow challenges along with alternative suggestions for solving them.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Writing, Press Releases, and Proofreading
  • Effective Communication and Marketing abilities
  • Proven experience in direct response copywriting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or related field
