Job Description

Looking for an active, on-site role where your work truly matters? Join the Regional Food Bank as a Product Recovery Associate and help ensure that food gets where it's needed most. This is an entry-level opportunity to be part of a mission-driven team, gain valuable warehouse experience and contribute to something bigger than yourself. As a Product Recovery Associate, you will support daily warehouse operations by organizing products, operating equipment and helping maintain a clean, safe and efficient workspace. You will also work alongside job training participants, helping them learn the ropes while keeping things running smoothly.

A Day in the Life

Recovery Organization and Equipment:

  • Ensure daily organization and cleanliness of Recovery area and equipment.
  • Preform pre-shift equipment checks to verify safe operation.

Forklift and Equipment Operation:

  • Operate forklifts, rider jacks and pallet jacks to move and store products.
  • Navigate tight warehouse spaces safely.
  • Set up project areas with pallets, tables and products according to daily schedule.
  • Relocate pallets to appropriate storage areas (dry, cooler or freezer).

Safety and Equipment Management:

  • Remain alert and prioritize safety in all tasks.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate and train on the usage of equipment such as manual pallet jacks, balers and compactors.

Training and Orientation:

  • Support the completion of new orientation weekly for new team members.
  • Train the job training participants in inspecting returned boxes, preparing for reuse or recycling.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Receive, count, weigh and document inbound donations, including food drive drop-offs, pet food and full trailer donations.
  • Sort, weigh and document donations; contact appropriate partners for items not acceptable for general inventory.
  • Sort and document various purchase orders that cannot be inventoried as delivered.

Cardboard Recycling:

  • Unload and process cardboard "donations" for recycling.

Donation Assistance:

  • Assist with any donation drop-offs or pick-ups.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

How you have spent your time:

  • Obtaining a high school diploma or GED.
  • Working in a warehouse environment for at least 1 year.

Other Qualifications:

  • Clearance of background investigation and drug screen.
  • Pass physical examination.

Preferred Qualifications

How you have spent your time:

  • Obtaining a forklift certification.

Your Environment

Full exposure to extreme weather changes and humidity/moisture relative to atmospheric condition variations. Includes exposure to extreme summer and winter temperatures, as well as rain, sleet and snow. Full exposure to dust, chemicals, gases, fumes, smoke, excessive noise and/or vibrations. Work generally performed in an industrial environment (indoor or outdoor) with various hazards and noise exposure. Travel may be required for assignments, meetings and training. The job also requires availability for rotating on-call schedule, occasional unscheduled call-outs and extended workdays and/or workweeks. Overtime, weekend and/or holiday hours may be required.

Physical Demands

The company will provide reasonable accommodation to qualified individuals with disabilities. Utilize multi-limb coordination and flexibility combined with control precision to perform fine motor skills including: finger manipulation, grasping, feeling, arm-hand steadiness, in order to push, pull or lift objects. Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work involves climbing at heights at or above six feet. Utilizes multi-limb coordination to balance on even or uneven surfaces, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, and walk, reach over shoulders or below the knees. Auditory attention and hearing sensitivity is required, as candidates must possess the ability to distinguish various sounds that serve as key maintenance indicators. Must employ the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the company's Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
