ABOUT THE ROLE

Do you enjoy working cross functionally across the organization to produce the best product for the customer, if so, then we want to talk to you We are currently seeking a customer and product-oriented Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Specialist. This person will serve as a vital part of the organization when it comes to keeping our customers happy and in the know with all things food safety and compliance related. We are really looking for a researcher and investigator who understands food safety and quality assurance, and someone who wants to work in dynamic and transformative environment

This role is office-based and does not include lab work.

As a response to the pandemic, Roland Foods office employees have transitioned to a hybrid working schedule, requiring employees to report in-person Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to telework on Monday and Friday each week. Due to the collaborative, cross-functional nature of the organization, employees at the NY and NJ offices are required to work in-person for the abovementioned days, outside of any People & Culture-approved disability accommodation request.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Effectively communicate with suppliers to get accurate information for all productsWork on cross functional team with Innovation, Category Management and Creative to bring new items to the market in a timely mannerResearch and investigate proper labeling of ingredientsAssure supplier compliance with product consistency among multiple suppliersEvaluate GMO, allergen statements and gluten statements from all suppliersWork with the Creative and Revenue Management departments regarding label complianceReview for accuracy all ingredient declarations, weight statements and nutrition facts panels to comply with all labeling regulationsEvaluate supplier information to verify product compliance against Company standards, labeling laws and regulations

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

2+ years' experience in the food industry as food tech/QA/food safety with a background in food manufacturing and/or food importsGeneral knowledge of HACCP, ISO 9002, GMP, and USDA, FDA, and federal, state and local lawsStrong computer skills; proficient in Excel and WordFood safety and nutrition knowledge; general food science knowledge; familiar with analytical and microbiological terms

Preferred

BS in food science, biology or nutrition. A culinary arts degree and/or related work experience will also be consideredInterest and aptitude for science and technology; good mathematic skillsProficient in gleaning information by observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sourcesEfficient with processing information by compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or dataGood oral and written communication skills including technical writingActive learner; good initiative; excellent organizational skills; detail-oriented and accurate; problem solver

SALARY RANGE

Roland Foods hires exceptional people to perform a wide variety of important functions that contribute to the success of the Company. One of the ways Roland Foods does that is through a competitive compensation package. The base salary for this role will be $55,000 - $67,000.

Based on your qualifications, previous experience, and transferable skills, the Company will determine at its sole discretion, the salary offered.
