Information Technology and Telecommunications Support Technician

Position Summary
The Information Technology and Telecommunications Support Technician plays an essential role in strengthening our campus Community by ensuring every faculty and staff member feels supported and connected through dependable, user-focused technical assistance. This position responds to inquiries across tickets, phone calls, emails, chats, and in-person interactions, helping users navigate issues such as password resets and account unlocks while following established policies and procedures. Guided by our commitment to Learning, the Technician continually expands their technical knowledge to better serve others, and upholds Integrity in every interaction. Working under the direction of the Information Technology and Telecommunications Director, this role contributes to a collaborative, trusted, and service-oriented technology environment.
Essential Functions
- Respond to technical support requests from faculty and staff through phone, email, chat, helpdesk ticketing system, or in-person interactions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network connectivity, and account login issues across various platforms.
- Assist users with password resets, account unlocks, and access permissions in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
- Install, configure, image, and deploy Windows computers and software packages.
- Maintain and update internal IT documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain the IT asset inventory, including receiving, tagging, and entering newly received equipment into inventory systems.
- Organize and process all incoming IT equipment and prepare devices for deployment.
- Provide evening on-site IT support for faculty and staff as scheduled.
- Log, prioritize, and track technical support requests and resolutions using helpdesk software.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and make recommendations for system or process improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Preference will be given to applicants with post- secondary education.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills and advanced organizational skills.
- Aptitude and desire to quickly obtain new skills and undertake challenges.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Professional, responsible, friendly, and able to work in an educational institution.
- Must possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be proficient in business computer software applications, specifically Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple work assignments, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with individuals of all racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Spanish speaking proficiency desirable.

Additional Information
WORKING HOURS: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
CONDITIONAL OFFER: A conditional offer of employment will be made pending satisfactory completion of a background investigation.
