Job Summary:
We are seeking a hospitality professional with strengths in safety and security for the position of Loading Dock Officer at the Boston Harbor Hotel. This position is responsible for patrolling the hotel premises to maintain order, operate freight elevators in multiple buildings for deliveries, enforce regulations and ensure observance of applicable laws.
What you will have an opportunity to do:
The primary responsibilities for the Loading Dock Officer include but are not limited to:
- Monitor and control access to the loading dock area, ensuring only authorized personnel and deliveries are permitted.
- Verify and document all incoming and outgoing deliveries, including time, vendor, and contents.
- Coordinate with departments regarding expected deliveries.
- Inspect deliveries for proper labeling, damage, and compliance with hotel standards.
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and safety within the dock and adjacent storage areas.
- Enforce hotel policies regarding waste management, recycling, and hazardous materials disposal.
- Ensure all delivery vehicles follow designated parking and unloading procedures.
- Report suspicious activity, safety hazards, or security breaches to management immediately.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports related to daily dock operations.
- Support emergency and evacuation procedures when necessary.
- Administrative duties, which will include writing incident reports, logs, accident reports, lost and found reports
- Responding to calls for service when needed.
- Patrolling hotel areas to detect/report and/or control fires, unsafe conditions, and missing or inoperative safety equipment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to performance of key responsibilities, this position may be required to possess a combination of the following skills and experiences:
- Demonstrated ability to work cohesively with a team.
- Must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing. A second language is desirable.
- Must be able to lift up to 30lbs + on a regular and continuous basis.
- Thorough knowledge of safety and security procedures.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role, such as loading dock operations, security, shipping/receiving – preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
