Overview
The Supervisor oversees multiple construction and facilities task orders on the NIH campus in Maryland, providing day-to-day leadership and coordination across a wide range of projects. This role is responsible for supervising construction, mechanical, electrical, and renovation repair activities to ensure all work is performed safely, on schedule, within scope, and in compliance with NIH standards, contract requirements, and applicable codes and regulations.
The Supervisor serves as the primary on-site point of contact for task order execution, coordinating subcontractors, trades, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities include planning and monitoring work activities, resolving technical and operational issues, and ensuring quality control across all disciplines.
The position requires strong reporting and documentation skills, including preparation of daily activity reports, progress updates, schedules, inspection reports, and issue tracking for each task order. The Supervisor ensures accurate and timely communication of project status, risks, and changes.
As a key communicator, the Supervisor leads and participates in coordination meetings, safety briefings, and progress meetings with NIH representatives, project managers, engineers, and contractors. Clear, professional communication both written and verbal is essential to facilitate collaboration, manage expectations, and support successful project delivery.
Duties
- Oversee and manage multiple task orders on the NIH campus in Maryland, ensuring timely and compliant execution of work.
- Supervise construction, mechanical, electrical, and renovation repair activities across assigned projects.
- Coordinate daily work activities of subcontractors, trades, vendors, and field personnel.
- Ensure all work complies with NIH standards, contract requirements, safety regulations, and applicable federal, state, and local codes.
- Monitor project schedules, scope, and performance; identify risks and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Conduct site inspections to verify quality of workmanship and adherence to approved plans and specifications.
- Enforce safety protocols and participate in safety meetings, inspections, and incident reporting.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact between NIH stakeholders, project managers, engineers, and contractors.
- Lead and participate in coordination meetings, progress meetings, and planning discussions.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports, including daily logs, progress reports, inspection reports, and status updates.
- Document project activities, issues, changes, and resolutions for each task order.
- Communicate project status, constraints, and milestones clearly to all stakeholders.
- Support issue resolution related to scheduling conflicts, design clarifications, and field conditions.
- Assist with closeout activities, including punch lists, inspections, and documentation.
- Maintain professional communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- Facilities Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience supervising construction and facilities projects, preferably in a federal or campus-style environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple task orders or projects simultaneously.
- Strong working knowledge of construction, mechanical, electrical, and renovation repair work.
- Familiarity with NIH, federal, or other government facility standards, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of applicable safety regulations (OSHA) and quality control practices.
- Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, trades, and vendors in an active, occupied facility environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead meetings and prepare clear, accurate reports.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in standard reporting and documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, project management or CM software).
- Ability to identify issues proactively and implement effective solutions in the field.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to interact effectively with government personnel and diverse project teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required background clearance for access to the NIH campus.
- Valid driver's license and ability to work on-site in Maryland.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55, $76,800.00 per year
