This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Water Resources Engineer for our Raleigh or Charlotte office.  Be involved in projects with our Water Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with our dynamic and highly talented multi-disciplinary team supporting projects including but not limited to drainage studies, layout, design and analysis of collection and conveyance systems, utility engineering, analysis of hydraulic structures and flood studies, stormwater management, and erosion control design:     

Your Impact

  • Create detailed designs of collection systems and analysis of storm drainage features 
  • Design of Stormwater Control Measures (SCMs) and Sediment and Erosion Control Best Management Practices 
  • Assist with preparation of environmental permit drawings, construction plans and specifications. 
  • Floodplain analysis of hyraulic structures and FEMA compliance
  • Perform routine engineering assigments requiring the application of standard techniques and procedures. 
  • Work independently on small projects, or assist other engineers on larger projects

Required Qualifications

  • BS in civil engineering or related field from and accredited program
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience with Civil engineering principles and practices and project experience in some or all of the following areas: 
    • Hydraulic and Utility design 
    • Bridge hydraulic/scour analysis and floodplain management
  • Working knowledge of basic hydrologic and hydraulics principles 
  • Strong background using hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and design software such as Microstation/GeoPak/OpenRoads, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS, HEC-2, TR-55, SWMM etc. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work closely with other design disciplines
  • Good work ethic and capable of coordinating simultaneous tasks/projects

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred  
  • Affiliations with professional societies and active industry and community involvement are highly desirable
