Policy & Advocacy Manager – Economic Empowerment

Position Overview
The External Affairs team is seeking a mission-driven Contract Manager to provide parental leave coverage for the Manager of Economic Opportunity & Advocacy. This temporary role offers a unique opportunity to advance initiatives focused on economic empowerment, innovation, and equitable opportunity. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining leadership continuity, stakeholder engagement, and program execution during this period.
About the Team
The External Affairs team collaborates with a broad network of organizations to champion pro-innovation policies and drive inclusive economic growth. We are looking for a passionate, collaborative professional who shares our commitment to creating meaningful impact through policy and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and Support Pro-Innovation Policy & Programs
- Serve as the primary cross-functional liaison for External Affairs, ensuring seamless coordination across internal teams
- Monitor and support initiatives related to emerging technology policy, including AI legislation and youth-focused education programs
- Oversee execution of innovation summits and related events, managing relationships with external program partners
- Stay informed on infrastructure and data center developments relevant to economic opportunity
- Engage and Empower Stakeholders
- Act as the main point of contact for a diverse range of external stakeholders, including:
- National and regional business associations
- Innovation and entrepreneurship advocacy groups
- Minority- and women-owned business organizations
- Workforce development and future-of-work coalitions
- Public-private partnership networks
- Build and maintain strong, mission-aligned relationships to advance shared goals
- Advance Advocacy & Program Impact
- Support ongoing advocacy efforts and program implementation as directed by the Economic Opportunity & Advocacy team
- Ensure timely, transparent communication and collaboration with key partners
- Provide strategic updates and insights to leadership to inform decision-making
Qualifications
- Mission-Driven Mindset: Demonstrated passion for economic empowerment, innovation, and social impact
- Experience: Background in public policy, advocacy, campaigns, or external affairs
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive complex initiatives to completion
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
- Collaboration: Experience working cross-functionally and building partnerships with a variety of stakeholders
Location: Washington D.C (Onsite)
Role type: Contract 9 Month Position
Expected hours: 40 per week
