We are a supplier of mechanical products (pipes, valves, fittings) to the maritime and industrial markets. We are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join our Inside Sales Team. This role will involve a combination of inside and outside sales, including travel to cruise and commercial vessels. Schedule:
8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Onsite; weekend flexibility required for cruise ship schedules; overtime may be required.

Job Purpose
The primary function is to increase sales of mechanical products to the maritime/cruise market by conducting onboard vessel visits and supporting sales to new and existing accounts. This role also maintains relationships as a technical liaison for key account customers.
*Job Responsibilities*
- Build relationships with ship personnel and key decision-makers, including Captains, Engineers, Purchasing Managers, and Superintendents.
- Conduct onboard vessel visits to assess systems, identify opportunities, and specify valves, fittings, and other mechanical components.
- Evaluate ship mechanical systems (e.g., sea water, HVAC, fuel, ballast, hydraulic) to ensure proper selection and compatibility of components.
- Safely navigate and work in engine rooms, confined spaces, and other technical areas aboard vessels.
- Collaborate with ship engineers, technical managers, and procurement teams to provide tailored solutions.
- Translate technical findings into clear sales opportunities and follow through the full sales cycle.
- Provide technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training to vessel staff and shore-based teams.
- Partner with internal departments (inside sales, logistics, product management) to ensure accurate quoting, timely delivery, and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain and expand relationships with key accounts in the cruise and commercial shipping industries.
- Stay current with industry trends, classification requirements, and new technologies affecting shipboard mechanical systems.
Requirements
*Education / Credentials*
- Mechanical Engineering degree required.
- Must obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) to access vessels (company-sponsored).
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of inside and outside technical sales experience.
- Prior experience selling mechanical products (valves, pipes, fittings) to the maritime industry is required.
- Familiarity with cruise ships, commercial vessels, and maritime customers.
*Skills / Competencies*
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with valves, piping systems, and marine engineering fundamentals.
- Comfortable working onboard vessels and interacting with technical crews and engineers.
- Able to navigate tight, semi-confined spaces on ships.
- Flexible to work weekends and overtime as required by vessel schedules.
- Local to Houston, TX or Davie, FL markets.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and travel frequently to ports and vessels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
