ECU Health Company Police is a corporate department that serves all ECU Health properties. As part of the professional healthcare team, the Police Departments mission is to protect and serve the patients, visitors and staff of all ECU Health entities in order to provide a high quality, cost effective and secure environment for the provision of quality patient care.
Position Summary
The Telecommunicator receives, prioritizes, and dispatches appropriate personnel to calls for service, for both emergency and non-emergency calls. This position must monitor, operate and assist in maintaining all electronic equipment.
As a Telecommunicator, you will:
- Receive and dispatch routine and emergency calls and personal requests for assistance.
- Monitor, operate, and assist in maintaining all electronic equipment.
- Communicate with other law enforcement agencies.
- Routinely make quick, informed decisions which effect the safety of both officers and the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- High School or equivalent - or higher
- Must maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license
- Before the end of 10 months, the Telecommunicator is expected to receive his/her Telecommunications Certification from the N.C. Justice Academy.
- Before the end of the first 10 months, he/she is expected to be certified to operate the DCI terminal.
- Before the Telecommunicator is released from training, he/she will have to be certified to operate the department's Computerized Incident Reporting System.
- 1 year or less experience with computer driven systems/equipment. Preference to have law enforcement / security equipment related experience.
Other Information
- 40 hours per week
- Monday - Friday (5:45 pm - 5:45 am)
- Required to work rotational weekends
