Title of Position: Advocate Supervisor
This non-exempt position requires a qualified professional to manage volunteers who advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children in Venango County.
General Description:
The Advocate Supervisor is responsible for managing CASA volunteers and their assigned cases. As part of his or her case management duties, the CASA Supervisor provides professional staff support to CASA volunteers ensuring that children involved with the CASA program receive sound advocacy and early permanency planning.
This is a full-time position with a stipend towards benefits of $100/month
Location: Oil City, PA
Qualifications:
The Advocate Supervisor should have the following skills and experience:
minimum of three years' experience working in the field of child welfare.
The ability to communicate with and supervise volunteers and help volunteers be effective in their roles. Experience working with volunteers highly preferred.
Knowledge and understanding of child abuse, child neglect and the Juvenile Court system, preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and writing skills.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and writing skills required.
Displays problem solving skills, teamwork and dependability.
Must possess ability to function independently, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with public, co-workers and others,
Has a working knowledge of various computer software programs (ex. Microsoft office suite).
Knowledge of and experience in the child welfare system, child abuse, neglect and the Juvenile Court system preferred.
Applicant must complete clearances prior to start date or have clearances that have been completed within one year of start date
Accountability:
The Advocate Supervisor reports directly to the Executive Director who is responsible for his/her performance evaluations.
Responsibilities:
The CASA Advocate Supervisor will assume management responsibility for 25-30 active CASA cases. Specific management responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assisting in the recruiting and interviewing of new volunteers.
Assisting in both the core training of new volunteers and the ongoing monthly trainings of veteran volunteers.
Reviewing new cases and assigning an appropriate volunteer to each case in consultation with the Executive Director.
Preparing and distributing assignment documentation to the volunteers.
Supervising and guiding volunteers and making sure that the volunteers' activities are following both the CASA mission and applicable state and federal laws. Monitoring each volunteer to ensure that the volunteer meets all essential timelines.
Developing a comprehensive investigation and advocacy plan which shall include proscribed timelines with each volunteer.
Maintaining timely and thorough case records on each case.
Complete required data entry in a date base.
Attending critical meetings, visits and conferences with volunteers.
Participating in agency case conferences and, about such agency case conferences, submitting case updates in a timely manner with a clear identification of important case issues and strategy questions to be addressed.
Reviewing and distributing court reports prepared by volunteers. Reviewing recommendations of volunteers to ensure that they are in the best interests of the children.
Preparing volunteers for court testimony and cross-examination.
Accompanying volunteers to court to assure quality advocacy and assisting with procedural issues arising in court.
Compiling statistics on all active cases, including outcome measurements, demographics and placements.
Participating in volunteer evaluations as assigned by the Executive Director .
Attending conferences, seminars and meetings as requested by the Executive Director
Other Responsibilities:
Attend board meetings and provide updates / input as needed.
Participate in community task forces, committees and collaborations.
Assist with the recruiting, screening, interviewing and training of new volunteers as needed and participate in both the core training and ongoing trainings for our volunteer advocates.
Assist with outreach and development activities as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
