Job Summary
The Community Engagement Manager will lead Zachry Corporation's efforts to build trusted relationships with communities across all companies and regions. This role will proactively manage outreach, storytelling, media relations and philanthropy to enhance the company's reputation, support regional and project success, and reflect Zachry's culture of care, quality, and accountability. Additionally, this role will oversee the company's philanthropic and corporate giving initiatives.

Essential Functions
Community Relations Strategy Execution

  • Collaborate with the public relations agency to develop and deliver tactics to implement scalable engagement strategies tailored to regional needs.
  • Coordinate regional outreach initiatives that position Zachry as a valued neighbor and community partner.
  • Track and report on community sentiment and engagement outcomes.

Proactive Communications

  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications and Marketing to develop and manage messaging, content, and visual storytelling assets (e.g., drone footage, renderings, before/after photos).
  • Create and maintain project-specific landing pages with real-time updates, FAQs, and community resources.
  • Draft and distribute the quarterly "Zachry Progress Report" to stakeholders, media, and local officials.

Media Relations & Public Messaging

  • Collaborate with TXDOT and other partners on co-branded media efforts.
  • Pitch human-interest stories that highlight community benefits of Zachry projects.
  • Ensure major project milestones are leveraged for positive media coverage.

Monitoring & Measurement

  • Collaborate with public relations agency of record to conduct media and social audits to assess brand presence and community perception.
  • Monitor media sentiment and coverage volume.
  • Analyze engagement metrics across digital platforms and campaign landing pages.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with Business Development and serve as liaison between Zachry and community organizations, local governments, and media outlets.
  • Support internal teams in identifying and sharing community engagement activities.

Philanthropic and Corporate Giving

  • Implement strategies to support charitable causes, manage relationships with nonprofit organizations and ensure that the company's giving aligns with its values and goals.
  • Collaborate with regional internal and external stakeholders to promote and enhance the company's corporate giving programs.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, Marketing or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in community relations, public affairs, or media strategy.
  • Strong storytelling, writing, and visual communication skills.
  • Experience with media monitoring tools and digital engagement analytics.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders across regions.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with infrastructure or construction industry.
  • Experience coordinating with government agencies and regional media.
  • Knowledge of crisis communication and reputation management.
