Carex is partnering with a BioTech industry partner
to find a detail-oriented and experienced
Senior Accountant
for a 9-month contract role. This position will play a key role in supporting accounting operations, financial reporting, and process improvements within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, experience with month-end close processes, and the ability to collaborate effectively across finance and business teams.

Summary
The Senior Accountant will support the organization's accounting functions by preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, assisting with financial statement preparation, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. This individual will work closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver accurate and timely financial information while identifying opportunities for process efficiencies during the 9-month engagement.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial statements are complete and accurate.
  • Analyze variances and trends across balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls and accounting processes.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including FP&A and Operations, to ensure accurate financial data and alignment on business activities.
  • Participate in audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries as needed.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting operations and enhance reporting efficiency.
  • Collaborate with leadership on ad hoc projects and accounting analyses as assigned.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; CPA or public accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and accounting best practices.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar) and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team on complex accounting tasks.
