Job Summary

Join our growing healthcare team as a Medical Assistant/Receptionist, where your energy and dedication will directly enhance patient experiences and streamline clinic operations. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional service while supporting clinical staff with essential medical procedures. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will ensure smooth patient flow, accurate documentation, and a welcoming environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills across in an outpatient clinic setting. This position is for two office locations; Crystal Lake and Wheaton and staff rotate between both locations.

Duties

  • Provide prompt, courteous reception to all patients, family members, vendors, and staff who are visiting the center
  • Verify patient information, and facilitate check-in procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, collecting co-pays and deductibles
  • Prepare examination rooms by ensuring cleanliness, sterilization, and readiness for patient visits or procedures like ultrasound or minor procedures
  • Manage appointment scheduling efficiently while coordinating with multiple staff to optimize patient flow in outpatient setting
  • Conduct patient intake assessments by gathering medical histories related to specialties and consultations
  • Obtain and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, and temperature with precision
  • Document clinical notes accurately, coding for diagnoses and procedures to ensure compliance and billing accuracy
  • Assist patients with any questions or concerns
  • Handle administrative duties such as answering phones, managing patient records, verifying insurance information, and processing referrals for specialty care
  • Demonstrates willingness to work well with others and assist new employees
  • Observe HIPPA guidelines by maintaining strict confidentiality in all matters pertaining to patient's personal, medical, and financial information

Skills

  • Proficiency with EHR systems to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently
  • Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year experience in patient care area environment
