About The Company: Keany Produce & Gourmet is a leading distributor of fresh produce, dairy, seasonal, and gourmet products with a commitment to fairness, personal attention, and quality. Operating facilities in Landover, MD, and Richmond, VA, Keany serves customers in MD, VA, PA, DE, and Washington, DC Since 1970.
We are looking for a shipping supervisor to join our team.
Schedule: 7pm to finish Sunday-Friday
Job Purpose/Objective:
The Shipping Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the warehouse, focusing mainly on the Shipping Department. This role entails assisting in the management of activities, responsibilities, and staff within the shipping department to guarantee optimal productivity and a high degree of accuracy. It is a supervisory role that encompasses the operational and personnel functions of a designated section of the warehouse. Key responsibilities involve supervising hourly warehouse associates, offering leadership and guidance to meet safety objectives, productivity targets, accuracy benchmarks, cost reduction goals, and the development of warehouse staff.
II. Essential Job Functions:
- Motivate selectors and loaders, and short order selectors
- Organizes the workflow of employees on respective shifts.
- Assign and monitor tasks using computers and scanners.
- Perform all required procedures and documentation in a safe and efficient manner to maintain the highest quality finished product for our customers
- Handles immediate disciplinary incidents
- Enforces Company policies and procedures
- Documents Worker's Compensation incidents
- Trains new hires on GMPs
- Manages shift time sheets and staffing associates time clocks
- Provides proper warehouse documentation as needed
- Conducts daily/weekly/ monthly performance/ development reviews
- Handles product discrepancies, product shortages and substitutions
- Meets productivity output standards for the shift
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the warehouse
- Willing to work any day of the week, weekends, and Holidays
- Supervisors return desk and short order areas
- Inspecting Equipment, Product, or Material - Inspecting equipment, Product, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
III. Additional Job Functions:
- Participate in operations meetings when required.
- Reviews the performance of subordinates
- Liaisons with different departments, i.e., Shipping, Receiving, Purchasing, Sales, Maintenance, Dispatch, Transportation
- Self-starter, gets involved quickly, takes on difficult tasks with enthusiasm. Take action to achieve goals beyond what is required
- Additional duties as required to support the mission of Keany Produce Company
IV. Working Conditions/Job Environment:
Degree of physical demands (strength) usually associated with this position:
- Minimum lift requirement 50-60 lbs. on a regular basis
- Requires repeated stooping and bending
- Frequent lifting and carrying boxed/bagged fruits and vegetables
- Requires continuous standing for extended periods of time
- Frequently requires riding a motorized, stand-on pallet jack
Environmental conditions (physical surroundings and hazards) are usually associated with this position:
- Working in a 45-degree (F) processing area for 8-10 hours daily
- Working in a damp environment for 8-10 hours daily
- Moderately noisy environment
VI. Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2 years' experience in shipping and warehousing.
- 2 years of supervising.
- Spanish language skills a plus.
- Sound knowledge of HACCP, GMP's, sanitation, and Food Safety concepts.
- Familiar with USDA/FDA guidelines.
- Knowledge of Current DOT regulation.
- Proficient operating stand-up, reach forklifts.
- PC skills to include Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Flexible with change in the work assignments and proficient
VII. Preferred Qualification
- Associate's degree
- 5 Years' experience in the management of produce warehousing and shipping with multiple shifts.
- Change Management, SQF Program, Produce Pro Software proficiency
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to take an idea from conception to execution
- Manage job professionally and with a high level of organization.
- Ability to work and communicate with others
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to always practice safe working habits
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule with weekends, holidays, and overtime
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52, $60,000.00 per year
