ABOUT US: The Green Analytics' companies are leaders in cannabis science and technology with significant footprints in laboratory testing and analytics, research and development, genetics, cultivation consulting, environmental swabbing and monitoring, packaging integrity studies, and product development. Our teams, led by highly experienced Ph.D. 's and analytical chemists, hold accuracy, customer service, and rapid turnaround time as our primary commitments to the medical and recreational cannabis cultivators and processors we serve. Potential employees must be comfortable working with/near cannabis related products.
ANALYST II SCHEDULE: Facilities are open 365 days/year, 7 days per week including holidays. Assigned schedule will include work on holidays and either Saturday or Sunday.
POSITION SUMMARY: This is an advanced analytical sciences position responsible for the completion of all tasks/assignments relevant to the job description for a Lab Analyst in addition to non-routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
INTERMEDIATE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Exceptional aptitude in non-routine instrument maintenance including the ability to independently troubleshoot complex issues
- Ability to confidently train and oversee workflow in all instrumentation methods as directed by management
- Ability to confidently assist in the training of Lab Technician and Analyst employees/new hires
- Ability to competently follow through on unique, non-routine projects to completion Such projects may include, but are not limited to Method Development, Method Optimization and Method/Instrument Validations and Verifications
- Ability to identify and coordinate solutions for areas of improvement within laboratory
- Intimately understands client needs and is able to prioritize and coordinate team workflow to maintain client satisfaction
GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs basic instrument maintenance to include routine consumable swaps, cleanings, etc
- Works with Lab Director to ensure lab efficiencies for prioritization, workflow, and sample preparation
- Provides for the loading and running of instruments, calibration, standard preparation, and instrument tuning
- Identifies opportunities for improvement; oversees implementation of new and improved methods and processes
- Assists with the upkeep and improvement of the quality management system to include Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and the employee training programs
- Prepares calibrations and verifies quality controls for laboratory instruments and methods; uses data to recognize and/or correct possible processing or instrument errors
- Acquires and analyzes data used to perform and report analytical laboratory testing of cannabis products
- Performs validation of test methods and completes Research and Development (R&D) related activities
- Provides for the documentation and tracking of Continuing Calibration Verification (CCV) Standards for Quality Assurance
- Prepares reports related to cannabinoid potency, terpene potency, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, microbiologic organisms, water activity and mycotoxins (Chemistry Analyst) where appropriate
- Imports data into LIMS, submits data reports and Certificates of Analysis for supervisory approval
- Responsible for inventory oversight of crucial departmental supplies
- Maintains relationships with instrument vendors to ensure that maintenance and troubleshooting techniques are being performed correctly
- Operates with the same authority as department head in the finalization and review of analyst data
- Oversees method optimizations in various locations
- Oversees the training of new analysts in Heavy Metals analysis
- Provides both on-site and/or remote assistance to other locations in regards to troubleshooting, methodology, analysis, and technical questions
- May also be called upon to perform the same or similar duties at other laboratory facilities, and for other job-related duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
General Knowledge/Abilities
- Must have prior experience with HPLC, LCMS, and GCMS method development
- Ability to fluently speak and read the English language along with understanding and following both written and verbal direction
- Ability to function independently, have personal integrity, flexibility and the ability to work effectively with fellow employees
- Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations in different units of measurement
- Ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios; demonstrated abilities in troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Basic knowledge of modern office practices and use of Microsoft Office Suite for Word and Excel
- Experience in driving tasks and meeting deadlines; accountable for the completion of assigned goals and objectives
- Ability to build relationships to strengthen partnerships with a focus on customer service
- Ability to perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, etc
Education, Licenses/Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from an accredited college or university
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of 3 years non-academic experience in a real-world analytical laboratory setting
- Prior experience in the Cannabis industry is preferred
