Responsibilities
The
Retail Construction Project Manager
works as part of a program management team managing programs consisting of multiple project types – generally limited in size, scope, duration, etc. for our Multi-Site clients while acting as an extension of an owner's design, construction and maintenance staff overseeing the work of general contractors, designers and vendors. The Project Manager responsibilities may include the following:

  • Client Project delivery including, construction oversight (pre-construction meeting, construction, weekly status reports, safety audits/observations, change orders, invoicing, punch lists), and project closeout.
  • On-Site project management of construction activities.
  • Responsible for maintaining retail sites that are either owned or leased with scope of works dependent upon the class of trade. The Project Manager to provide support for Site Operators by managing maintenance vendors and is accountable for meeting an annual budget for repairs and capital replacements.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all phases of construction projects to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery aligned with client expectations.
  • Coordinate project teams, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain schedule, quality, and safety standards.
  • Serve as primary project contact, proactively communicating updates and issues with senior leadership and clients.
  • Review construction documents, drawings, and vendor proposals for accuracy and completeness.
  • Oversee permitting, compliance, and safety requirements across all job sites.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate schedules, reports, and documentation in the client's project tracking system.
  • Prepare clear weekly progress and status reports for internal and client review.
  • Manage and process change orders, ensuring cost control and scope alignment.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and escalate project challenges related to budget, schedule, or quality.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and key partners to support ongoing and future opportunities.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure timely resolution of open work orders.
  • Manage project and maintenance budgets, assessing repairs and replacements for cost-effectiveness.
  • Inspect new installations to verify compliance with construction, operational, and safety standards.
  • Contribute to capital planning for new facilities and equipment installations.
  • Develop detailed scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for assigned projects.
  • Conduct site due diligence and condition assessments for new or existing properties.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to Sales and Operations teams.
  • Travel as needed for site visits (up to weekly).

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4-year degree in an accredited construction related program or equivalent; or 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in construction project management in the retail and/or grocery sector.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in managing complex or multi-site projects required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • OSHA 10 Hour certification
  • Ability to travel nationally (40-60%)

Pay & Benefits
The anticipated compensation range for the position is $90,000 to $120,000 is based on a full-time schedule, market and business conditions, and is commensurate on individual education, qualifications, and experience. Work Conditions & Travel
This is a remote-based role with recurring travel to project locations. A highly collaborative environment that flourishes when individual and team contributions combine to achieve target goals and objectives. Multi-shift work may be required to accomplish work in active retail locations to meet aggressive schedules. Able to work remotely in a home-office setting and manage time effectively with multiple projects and deadlines. Travel required (60%) on an as needed basis up to and including weekly site visits.
