Overview
The Technical Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing IT initiatives that support Emery Sapp & Sons' enterprise technology needs. This position will manage cross-functional projects across infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, and integrations, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals. The ideal candidate will serve as the connective tissue between technical teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors, driving projects to completion while fostering strong communication and process excellence.
Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead the execution of IT projects, including infrastructure upgrades, system integrations, application deployments, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Define project scope, objectives, timelines, deliverables, and success metrics in collaboration with technical leads and stakeholders.
- Create and maintain project documentation, including detailed project plans, schedules, status reports, and post-project reviews.
- Identify and manage risks, resolve issues, and maintain clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with IT leadership, business units, and external vendors to ensure successful project delivery and stakeholder alignment.
- Manage vendor relationships for applicable projects, including coordination of deliverables, accountability to timelines, and evaluation of performance.
- Facilitate project meetings, coordinate cross-team efforts, and maintain transparency through consistent reporting and communication.
Process & Quality Improvement
- Contribute to the development and standardization of project management methodologies and tools within the IT department.
- Continuously evaluate project delivery processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with internal IT governance, security protocols, and documentation standards.
Change Management
- Serve as the central coordinator for organizational change management efforts related to IT and enterprise technology initiatives.
- Align change planning efforts across departments, ensuring consistency in messaging, user readiness, and timing of communications.
- Collaborate with teams responsible for training, communications, and end-user support to ensure smooth rollout and adoption of technology.
- Track adoption metrics and stakeholder feedback, escalating change-related risks or gaps to leadership as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience managing technical projects in mid-to-large organizations; experience in the construction or civil industry is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across technical disciplines.
- Solid knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience interfacing with executives, vendors, and end users.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools; experience with Azure, Workday, and enterprise project management platforms is a plus.
- Project management certifications (PMP, PMI-ACP, or similar) are preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Occasional travel to support projects at field or regional office locations.
- Ability to manage projects with distributed teams and stakeholders across the company's geographic footprint.
