Overview

About the Role

The Chief Technologist oversees the daily technical operation within the Breast Imaging Center. The Chief Technologist supervises technical staff, schedules and assigns technical staff to specific tasks, ensures the accuracy and quality of the radiologic images, trains and orients technical staff, monitoring. The Chief Technologist is also responsible for coordinating activities regarding budgeting, purchasing, contractual agreements, compliance with hospital policy and regulatory promote the mission, vision, and value statement of University Hospital.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do   

  • Oversees daily technical operations within the Breast Imaging Center.
  • Supervises and manages the technical staff.
  • Schedules and assigns staff to specific tasks and shifts.
  • Ensures accuracy and quality of radiologic images.
  • Provides training and orientation for new and existing technical staff.
  • Monitors staff performance and workflow efficiency.
  • Coordinates budgeting and purchasing activities.
  • Manages contractual agreements and vendor relations.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of University Hospital.
Qualifications

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology Program.
  • Holds a valid NJ State Radiology license.
  • Certified and actively registered with ARRT.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field (or equivalent education/experience/training).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of radiology experience.
    • At least two (2) years in a supervisory role.
  • Certified in the specific imaging service area:
    • MRI
    • CT (Cat Scan)
    • Interventional Radiology
    • Mammography
    • Ultrasound (ARDMS required; NJDEP not required)
    • General Radiography
    • Annual modality testing
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR by the American Heart Association.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • At least 5 years of experience in Radiology and Breast Imaging.
  • Prior experience as a Lead Technologist or Chief Technologist in an academic institution is a plus.
  • Strong multitasking abilities; able to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Proficient in verbal and written English.
  • Maintains professionalism and effectiveness in high-pressure or emergency situations.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and the ability to motivate and guide staff.

Compensation

In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is SS/29S:$ 88,647.00: $ 108,862.00:$ 129, University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs.The expected salary range for this position is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
