Boston, Massachusetts, United States Bicara Therapeutics Full time

Position Overview

The (Associate) Director, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications will serve as a strategic leader responsible for shaping and communicating Bicara's story to key external and internal stakeholders, including investors, media, employees, partners, and the scientific community.

This individual will integrate financial and scientific narratives into a cohesive, compelling voice that reflects Bicara's mission, business strategy, and progress across its portfolio. The role bridges traditional investor relations with corporate and product communications, ensuring consistency and transparency across all touchpoints—from quarterly earnings and investor events to data readouts, therapeutic milestones, and digital engagement.

Reporting to and partnering with the Senior Director and Head, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications, and working alongside the CEO, COO, CFO, CCAO, and other members of the Executive Team, this leader will develop and execute a holistic communications strategy that builds credibility, drives awareness, and supports long-term value creation.

This role is based in our Boston office and follows a hybrid schedule, with three in-office days each week.

Responsibilities

  • Execute integrated communications strategies supporting Bicara's pipeline and disease-area leadership.
  • Partner with functional leaders to drive proactive media relations, product storytelling, and disease awareness campaigns.
  • Support disclosure planning for major milestones, including clinical data readouts, regulatory events, and key conference participation.
  • Support digital and social strategy across platforms, ensuring consistent tone and message alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Serve as a senior advisor on financial and scientific communications for the executive team.
  • Support the development of quarterly earnings materials, including financial primers, management scripts, investor decks, and Q&A preparation.
  • Maintain relationships with the investment community and sell-side analysts; support conference and investor meeting preparation.
  • Manage shareholder and peer analyses, investor targeting, and consensus model reporting.
  • Lead cross-functional competitive intelligence processes to synthesize market, pipeline, and peer insights—partnering with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Corporate Strategy teams to ensure external messaging, investor engagement, and development strategy are informed by current industry dynamics.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Legal, Medical Affairs, Development, and other functional partners to ensure scientific accuracy and accessibility of external communications, and alignment across disclosures, messaging, and compliance.
  • Partner with the People team to promote transparency, reinforce company culture, and ensure employees are informed ambassadors of Bicara.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Communications, Finance, Life Sciences, or related field preferred.
  • 5 - 10 years of progressive experience in investor relations, corporate communications, or financial communications within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated success managing communications in a public company environment, including investor engagement and regulatory disclosure.
  • Experience translating complex scientific and financial concepts into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and creative problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.

Company Overview

Bicara Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to bringing transformative bifunctional therapies to patients with solid tumors. Bicara's lead program, ficerafusp alfa, is a bifunctional antibody that combines two clinically validated targets, an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) directed monoclonal antibody with a domain that binds to human transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β). Through this dual-targeting mechanism, ficerafusp alfa has the potential to exert potent anti-tumor activity by simultaneously blocking both cancer cell-intrinsic EGFR survival and proliferation, as well as the immunosuppressive TGF-β signaling within the tumor microenvironment. Ficerafusp alfa is being developed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, where there remains a significant unmet need, as well as other solid tumor types.
