Duties
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of marine vessels using schematics and technical manuals to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on engines, propulsion systems, electrical wiring, sheet metal components, and other vessel systems utilizing hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers and ohmmeters.
- Assemble and fabricate parts or components as needed, including sheet metal work and custom fabrications to meet specific vessel requirements.
- Utilize rigging techniques to install or remove heavy equipment safely while adhering to safety protocols.
- Solder electrical connections and troubleshoot wiring issues with electrical experience to ensure reliable vessel operation.
- Maintain detailed service records, update schematics diagrams, and document all repairs for compliance and future reference.
- Assist with customer service by explaining repairs or maintenance procedures clearly to clients and providing recommendations for ongoing vessel care.
Experience
- Proven service technician experience in marine or heavy machinery environments with a strong mechanical background.
- Familiarity with schematics reading, electrical systems troubleshooting, welding techniques, and fabrication processes.
- Military experience or training in mechanical or electrical fields is highly valued for its discipline and technical rigor.
- Hands-on experience with vehicle maintenance, assembly processes, sheet metal work, soldering techniques, and the use of precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during complex repairs or installations.
- Strong customer service skills combined with sales aptitude to promote maintenance services or upgrades effectively.
- Knowledge of safety standards related to heavy machinery operation and marine environments is preferred.
