Position Overview

The Operations / Facilities Manager oversees the daily operation of six construction supply stores and managers, ensuring efficient warehouse management, purchasing, inventory control, logistics. This role is responsible for optimizing processes, improving efficiency, and maintaining safety standards and training.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Facility Management

· Work with administrative staff to be current on all business licenses and permits by location. (WA & ID)

· Work with CFO and administration to implement and improve computer programs.

· Review utility spending by location to ensure all needs are met and work to reduce spend where possible.

· Oversee all warehouse, yard, and delivery operations to ensure locations are following company standard procedures.

· Implement and monitor operational procedures for receiving, storing, picking, and shipping construction materials.

· Work to implement standard safety protocols and ensure employees are current on all health and safety cards and training (ex: first aid / CPR)

· Arrange training for employees (ex: forklift safety training and compliance).

· Ensure all locations maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility compliant with all OSHA and company safety standards.

· Develop a call list by location with contact information (internal and external) to address issues / needs with utilities, IT, fleet etc.

· Help optimize layout, material flow, and equipment utilization to improve efficiency.

· Participate in marketing efforts as needed with advertising agencies.

Inventory & Procurement

· Work with Store Managers to manage inventory levels to meet business demand while minimizing costs.

· Develop a plan to ensure that all stores are utilizing centralized purchasing.

· Develop stop controls for purchasing and standard operating procedures for purchasing and inventory management.

· Monitor inventory turnover, and coordinate with purchasing for keeping locations streamlined and following purchasing / inventory standard operating procedures.

· Work with sales staff to utilize proper vendors to source materials, negotiate pricing, and resolve delivery issues.

· Manage annual inventory count schedule by location and assign team members to help as needed.

· Research and develop a barcode scanning system to streamline and improve inventory counting that will work with current point of sale system.

· Reduce shrinkage through accurate cycle counts, audits, and process improvements.

Staff Leadership

· Foster a positive, safety-focused, and teamwork-oriented culture.

· Assist Company President in developing strategic core values and mission statement.

· Utilize EOS techniques (Entrepreneurial Operating System) to efficiently manage stores and day-to-day operations.

· Implement and lead both quarterly and monthly manager meetings (in person quarterly) and (virtual monthly).

· Work side by side with Sales Manager to lead the business as a unified team (act like one company at every location).

· Supervise, train, and develop store managers, warehouse, and delivery personnel.

· Work with Store Managers regarding hours worked for hourly employees (overtime control) staffing schedules and monitor daily performance of each location (daily checklists).

· Work directly with HR and Store Managers to develop job descriptions and job postings for positions needed for all locations.

· Review candidate resumes and lead interviews as needed.

· Conduct performance evaluations and address personnel issues as needed.

Logistics & Delivery Management

· Work with fleet manager on all vehicle / equipment repairs and standard maintenance needs.

· Help managers acquire trip permits (oversize load) from administrative staff and fleet manager.

· Work with fleet manager to ensure all vehicle license and insurance cards are in all vehicles and current.

· Ensure DOT compliance for drivers and equipment.

· Coordinate with store managers to resolve logistical and internal transfer issues.

Customer & Vendor Relations

· Partner with Sales Manager to support customer orders, pricing, and material availability.

· Assist in working through customer complaints and delivery issues promptly and professionally.

· Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers.

Financial & Reporting

· Review monthly P&L reports and attend monthly financial review meeting with company President, CFO and ownership.

· Work with Company President, CFO and Sales Manager to develop quarterly targets for each branch based on year over year performance.

· Assist Company President, CFO and Sales Manger with implementing a measurable quarterly bonus payout system based on targets and goals.

· Manage operational budget, including labor, equipment, and inventory costs.

· Assist in developing and tracking KPIs such as monthly revenue targets by location, inventory spend and turns.

· Monitor and manage and eliminate margin erosion. Ensure all stores are staying on target and report deficiencies as soon as detected to President and CFO.

· Prepare regular reports on operations performance and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications

Required

· 7-10 years of experience in operations / facility management; construction supply or building materials industry preferred.

· Strong leadership and team-management skills.

· Knowledge of construction materials (erosion, concrete and asphalt products) is highly beneficial.

· Experience with inventory management systems and ERP software.

· Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

· Valid driver's license.

Preferred

· Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, Construction Management, or related field.

· Forklift certification and strong working knowledge of material-handling equipment.

· Experience implementing process improvements.

· OSHA 40 certification (preferred).

Working Conditions

· Office located at company headquarters 9915 E. Trent Ave Spokane Valley, WA

· Travel to store locations as needed (limited overnight trips).

· Exposure to varying weather conditions and construction materials.

· Occasionally extended hours during peak seasons and annual inventory counts.

· Additional / other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75, $99,000.00 per year
