Our client is seeking immediate assistance in identifying a candidate for a Controls Engineer direct hire position in Indianapolis, IN.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, program, and test control systems for a wide range of automated machinery, including robotic cells, palletizers, and custom equipment.
- Integrate and program robotic systems using platforms such as Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa, EPSON, and Kawasaki.
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and MES applications.
- Apply strong understanding of mechanical and electrical design principles to develop functional, reliable automation systems.
- Participate in machine design and concept development for one-off, specialized projects.
- Collaborate with the in-house team to build and assemble panels, switchgear, cabinets, and custom machinery.
- Conduct equipment testing, validation, and commissioning to ensure operational excellence.
- Interface with networks and control hardware, including LAN/WAN configuration, routers, IP addressing, and control loops.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring quality and delivery expectations are met.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through design optimization and process refinement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in automation or controls engineering (mid- to senior-level).
- Proven ability to program robotics and PLC systems from scratch.
- Experience with panel design, fabrication, and system commissioning.
- Strong understanding of process control systems, including sensors, servos, and control loops.
- Practical knowledge of vision systems and custom machine building.
- Solid foundation in networking principles (IP configuration, hardware interfacing).
TERMS:
This is a direct hire position that pays from $100,000 - $120,000/yr.
