Control System Certification Engineer - Indianapolis, IN

Schedule & Work Environment:

  • Hours: Typically 7:30–8:30 AM start until 4–5 PM end.
  • Hybrid schedule: 3 days in-office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday).
  • Travel: Approximately one week per month to Lafayette, with variability based on integration sessions. Candidates located near Lafayette may work on-site more regularly.

Top 3 Skills:

  • Control systems experience with a strong software focus — HVAC, engine, brake, or gas turbine systems.
  • System requirements development; experience with electronic engine control systems and Cameo is highly transferable.
  • Configuration management with rigorous system tracking.

Role Overview:

The Control System Certification Engineer is a key member of the Software Systems Capability team, responsible for collaborating with development engineers and airworthiness authorities to ensure control systems meet all certification requirements. This includes the creation, verification, and traceability of lifecycle data for control and monitoring systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture evidence of requirement validation, use cases, design constraints, and safety/security attributes in certification documentation.
  • Collaborate with development teams to align on certification plans, standards, and configuration management practices.
  • Develop reporting methods to compile lifecycle data and prepare documentation for submission to airworthiness authorities.
  • Drive continuous improvement in certification work products based on stakeholder feedback.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure alignment between system development data and certification objectives.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in airborne system development and certification.
  • Strong understanding of related engineering disciplines.
  • Proficiency in requirements management, design, and analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess certification evidence for completeness and compliance.
  • Confidence to identify risks or issues affecting product safety or compliance.
  • Skilled in managing multiple certification tasks and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Experience communicating and sharing data with airworthiness authorities.
  • Resourceful in seeking information and solutions from external sources, including suppliers and regulatory bodies.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $56.00 per hour
