Position Overview

We are hiring a Field Applications Scientist. The Field Applications Scientist will work closely with account managers to build productive customer relationships, conduct product demonstrations, and provide technical support on technologies utilized by customers focused on Drug Discovery, Safety Toxicology, and Disease Modeling. They will also utilize strong technical acumen and experience to provide solutions and support for sales opportunities and to increase overall product adoption and revenue.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Provides remote and in person technical presentations and discussions (via phone, email, customer visits) to prospecting or existing customers in support of sales opportunities and document in CRM.
  • Executes against core strategy and implements assigned tactics for product areas within the FCDI portfolio (e.g., conference/tradeshow participation and workshop presentations; contributions to technical forums and regional events).
  • Gathers competitive intelligence and voice of customer to help guide the direction of new product development. Relay information to the product managers and document in CRM
  • Works closely with account managers to implement tactics to both maintain existing business and set apart FCDI from competitors to win new business.
  • Works closely with account managers to develop a strategy for new products adoption within a specified region.
  • Candidates must be able to clearly articulate the technical value of the products.
  • Prepares monthly reports and tracks activities in CRM

Required Skills/Education:

  • Minimum of a Master's degree (M.S. in a Life Science) from four-year college or university (PhD. highly desirable).
  • Strong technical aptitude, preferably within the Drug Discovery space. Experience in screening, assay development, disease modeling, or safety toxicology is desirable.
  • Candidates should have a strong understanding of the market and key accounts within specified region.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working successfully as a Field Applications Scientist in the Life Sciences market. Comparable experiences will be considered.
  • Intermediate understanding of the drug discovery process and where our products would be most successful
  • Display the appropriate degree of commercial practical understanding to ensure business goals are ultimately met
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Must be able to clearly articulate the value of our products
  • Ability to project confidence with a suitable balance of humility
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Knowledge of general business administration practices
  • Ability to work closely with sales members to help achieve mutually beneficial goals

  • Basic computer skills, including Word and Excel, SFDC
  • Able to travel up to 50%
  • Must be fluent in English
