Overview

A pioneering, venture-backed tech company is seeking a brilliant Data Scientist to spearhead the R&D of next-generation forecasting products.

This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days in-office in either Golden, CO, or the greater Boston, MA area. Relocation support is available

The Company

My client is a leader in Earth observation, operating a powerful, dedicated constellation of weather satellites. They provide critical atmospheric data for forecasting and climate monitoring, helping to improve safety and mitigate risks across the globe.

The Role

As the Data Scientist, you will be at the forefront of innovation, applying advanced machine learning techniques to unique radio occultation data to build groundbreaking weather prediction models.

The Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in a technical role using AI/ML for geophysical prediction (especially weather).
  • Deep knowledge of both data science and a geophysical science (meteorology is a plus).
  • Experience running, validating, and fine-tuning AI/ML and foundation models.
  • Ability to adapt open-source software for business needs.
  • Proficiency in Python (or similar) in a Linux environment.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • PhD in a relevant geophysical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience training AI/ML models from scratch.
  • Background in satellite data analysis or signal processing (GNSS/radar).
  • Expertise in atmospheric sciences (especially variational data assimilation).
  • Familiarity with OSEs / OSSEs for model evaluation.
  • Published academic work in a related field.
