Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Accounting Manager. The position is primarily responsible for the areas associated with general accounting. Responsible for assigned account reconciliations, journal entries, lease accounting and financial reporting.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain lease accounting schedules related to right of use – ASC842

  • Prepare monthly accruals – R&M, utilities, workers comp & misc. income

  • Responsible for prepaids – amortization (IT contracts, property tax, insurance + rent)

  • Maintain rent schedule – provide to AP

  • Prepare and record month-end allocations

  • Responsible for financial reporting package & flux analysis

  • Provide operational reporting to departments

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • This position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or business with concentration in accounting.

Experience:

  • This position requires at least 5-7 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience in performing full-cycle accounting close.

Knowledge:

  • Strong technical skills in applying US GAAP rules are a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
  • Exposure to the following industries is preferred: grocery retail, warehousing and distribution.
  • Experience with Financial Reporting required.

Skills and Ability:

  • This position requires a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Effective communication will be important when planning, executing, and reporting on the results of internal projects as well as presenting other matters to management.
  • Demonstrated numerical aptitude required.
  • Other skills that are important include: building rapport with management, analytical skills in order to identify the source of issues identified, and strong organizational skills to be able to manage area of responsibility and projects effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to cross train staff accountant as needed.

Range: $85,000 to $100,000 Annually
