Purpose of Position:

The Program Director manages all functions of the Faith in Action Volunteers program.

Job Responsibilities:

Provides management of day-to-day operations of Faith in Action Programs, including:

  • Training and development of staff and volunteers
  • Interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies
  • Represents the Broome County Council of Churches at community events
  • Communicates on a regular basis with program volunteers, assessors, and other key players

Oversees FIAV staff and their programs:

Volunteer Services

  • Works directly with the Program Assistant regarding volunteer recruitment and orientation, new-client assessments, the scheduling office, and fundraising
  • Assists with maintaining the Shopper Program and relationship with the Office for Aging
  • Supports the program assistant regarding instances of issues or non-compliance with clients and/or volunteers when necessary
  • Retrieves data and information necessary for grant applications and reports

Chop & Chat

  • Regularly meets with the program coordinator to assess program progress and discuss issues
  • Retrieves data and information necessary for grant applications and reports

Ramp It Up

  • Regularly meets the Program Coordinator to assess program progress and discuss issues related to potential builds and/or volunteers
  • Retrieves data and information necessary for grant applications and reports

Senior Living Ministry

  • Periodic meeting with the volunteer coordinator regarding status of the program
  • Provides support when necessary

Computer Database & Social Media:

  • Become proficient with the RideScheduler database
  • Monitor and update the webpage and provide content for social media
  • Utilize Canva for social media and fundraising event publications

Grant writing and reports:

  • Write grants related to FIAV programs
  • CDBG City of Binghamton – for Ramp It Up
  • United Way, Excellus, & Golub Foundation – for Chop & Chat
  • Office For Aging Shopper Services Grant – for Shopper Program
  • Provide periodic grant reports when required
  • Provide data and information to Development upon request
  • Search for other grant opportunities to support FIAV

Events:

  • Coordinate and manage the two yearly FIAV fundraisers
  • Lives of Commitment Breakfast in May
  • Dining For Dollars in October
  • Coordinate and manage the yearly Silver Bells event to provide Christmas gifts to clients

Other:

  • Assist in the Scheduling Office when staff or volunteers are not available
  • Attend monthly Program Director, Staff Meeting, and Board of Directors' meetings

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with people in a sensitive and effective way
  • Good communication and management skills
  • Ability to complete tasks and meet deadlines on time
  • Organized and able to balance several responsibilities at one time
  • Exhibits teamwork, flexibility, adaptability, and dependability

WORK SETTING:

Works primarily in an office setting. When required, needs to be able to spend significant amounts of time in front of a computer terminal.
